The police command of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), on Monday, displayed the apprehended killers of retired General Uwem Udukwere in Abuja.
The retired army general was murdered by suspected armed robbers who broke into his private residence at Sunshine Estate, Abuja, early Saturday morning.
The FCT police commissioner, CP Benneth Igweh, introduced the suspects at the command in Abuja and stated that two of the robbers, who are currently at large, fled with the deceased’s pistol.
He identified the suspects as Ibrahim Rabiu, Nafiu Jamil, Aliyu Abdullahi, and Mohammed Nuhu, all residents of Apo, a suburb of Abuja.
Igweh explained that the suspects were apprehended following reliable intelligence gathered by FCT police operatives from the Utako division, led by CSP Victor Godfrey, who tracked the suspects to their hideout.
He reported that the suspects admitted to the crime and revealed that they stabbed the late brigadier general with a knife when he attempted to prevent them from taking his pistol.
Igweh mentioned that the knife used in the crime was recovered, and the late army general’s phone was also found in their possession.
CP Igweh assured that the command is actively working to arrest the two other fleeing robbers and recover the army general’s pistol.
He confirmed that the suspects would be charged to court once the investigation is complete.
