Former Chief of Defence Staff, Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi, has passed away following a brief illness.
According to family sources, he had been suffering from age-related illnesses for several weeks before he died in his Abuja home early Sunday morning.
“Admiral Ibrahim Ogohi passed on to glory a few minutes ago, early Sunday morning,” a family source reported.
Admiral Ogohi served as Chief of Defence Staff from 1999 to 2003.
He was notable for being the first Naval officer to attain a four-star rank in the Nigerian military and the first to serve as Chief of Defence Staff from the Navy.
The late Chief of Defence Staff was from Okura, Lafia in Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.
