The late Emir of Kano, Alhaji Ado Bayero, reigned for over five decades and bequeathed nine sons with traditional titles. That was the highest number left by any emir since the British conquest of 1804. But none of them was deemed eligible to succeed Sarkin Kano Alhaji Ado Bayero.
The inherited ancestral wisdom of the four Kingmakers involved in the selection is now manifesting itself. Governor Ganduje decided to bastardize the Kano Emirate and he found an accomplice in person of Aminu Ado Bayero. He created Bichi Emirate for him.
No descendent of Sarkin Kano Ibrahim Dabo has ever connived with outsiders to destroy the dynasty. During the reign of Sarkin Kano Alhaji Ado Bayero the influential princes, including Chiroma Ambassador Aminu Sanusi, Dan Iya Ambassador Ado Sanusi, Galadima Tijjani Hashim and Wambai Abbas Sanusi, never connived with his enemies to dethrone him. In fact, Galadima Tijjani Hashim was offered the throne twice but he rejected because Ado Bayero was to be dethroned.
Unfortunately, Aminu Ado Bayero was part of the scheme of Sanusi’s dethronement. He was paid in his own coin, and when Governor Yusuf signed the abrogation of the Law that established Ganduje’s Emirate he lost Emirate created for him.
Allah exposed Aminu Ado Bayero when he rejected the state government’s decision and made himself the Emir of Nassarawa Palace with the support of APC and Federal Government. The enemies of Kano have since been claiming that there are two Emirs in Kano because Aminu Ado Bayero is challenging the successor of his ancestors.
Aminu Ado Bayero has been parading himself as the Emir of Kano when he does not have authority over even a ward head. The APC-led Federal Government is determined to maintain this despoliation of Kano Emirate hoping that they will snatch the governorship from the NNPP in 2027.
Meanwhile, Sarkin Kano Khalifah Muhammadu Sanusi II continues to hold court at Gidan Rumfa the Palace of Kano Emirate. He presided over the wedding of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso’s daughter, which was solemnised by Grand Imam of Kano Professor Muhammad Sani Zaharaddeen.
As usual, Aminu Ado Bayero decided to mimic Sarkin Kano Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi and they announced that the wedding of Nasiru Ado Bayero’s daughter would be held at Aminu Ado Bayero’s palace in Nassarawa. Nasiru Ado Bayero refused because he has accepted his fate and does not pretend to be an emir, he insisted that the wedding ceremony should be held in Abuja.
Aminu Ado Bayero did not like this. He requested for a private jet to convey him to Abuja and he was not offered. Therefore, he stayed away from the event.
The real crack became clear when Nasiru Ado Bayero attended the wedding of his daughter at the National Mosque on Friday, December 13, 2024 without the royal regalia, not even the Dabo turban. This is significant because it is a message that he has accepted his fate that he is no more an emir or even a titleholder as his turban denoted without the “kunne biyu”.
In addition, he requested that his younger brother, Sarkin Dawakin Tsakar Gida Ahmadu, should be the waliy (legal guardian) of his daughter unfortunately the APC stalwarts hijacked it and gave Ganduje which is very disgraceful for a Kano princess to be handed over to someone not belonging to superior aristocracy.
Ganduje belonged to village chiefs’ class he is neither from the royalty nor the nobility. If not for open confrontation, Nasiru Ado Bayero wished that his daughter’s wedding be conducted by royalty in Gidan Rumfa and not under inferior people like Ganduje.
This is a manifestation of a crack in their dynasty because Sanusi Ado Bayero and Aminu Ado Bayero, the two most senior sons in the family, cannot lead their siblings in traditional royal manner, thus confirming the wisdom of the kingmakers who did not choose either of them after the demise of their father.
