Kimiebi Imomotimi Ebienfa, the acting spokesperson in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said in a press release that this visit “underscores Nigeria’s commitment to engaging global partners to drive economic growth, innovation, and sustainable development.”

During the visit, Tuggar will:

• deliver a speech and participate in a discussion at Chatham House on Nigeria’s evolving foreign policy and global aspirations;

• attend a high-level roundtable on technology and trade at the House of Commons, where discussions will focus on Nigeria’s economic diversification, investment climate, and digital transformation;

• engage with key media stakeholders at BBC House in London to highlight Nigeria’s foreign policy priorities and global positioning, and

• hold meetings with JP Morgan and British International Investment (BII) to explore financial and economic cooperation, including attracting capital flows, promoting investment opportunities, and strengthening Nigeria’s financial sector.

The statement said as part of his itinerary, the minister will hold bilateral discussions with senior UK government officials, including representatives from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and other key institutions. These discussions will focus on:

• enhancing cooperation on security and intelligence-sharing to counter extremism and instability in West Africa;

• expanding business and investment opportunities to support Nigeria’s economic growth and job creation, and

• strengthening collaboration in education, research, and technology between Nigerian and UK academic institutions.

In further recognition of Nigeria’s commitment to knowledge exchange, academic partnerships, and capacity building, Tuggar will also engage with the African Centre and the University of Cambridge.

Ebienfa said: “This visit marks a pivotal moment in Nigeria’s foreign policy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership, reinforcing his administration’s focus on economic diplomacy, strategic partnerships, and regional security cooperation.

“Through this working visit, Nigeria aims to consolidate its longstanding relationship with the UK, explore new frontiers for economic growth, and reaffirm its commitment to regional peace and stability.

“As Nigeria continues to engage proactively on the global stage, this visit underscores the country’s dedication to ensuring that diplomatic efforts translate into tangible benefits for national security, economic development, and the well-being of all Nigerians.”
