Azman University, Kano, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the SALFAR Sickle Aid Initiative to promote awareness, education, research and community engagement on sickle cell disease.
The SALFAR Sickle Aid Initiative is a non-governmental organisation committed to improving the lives and wellbeing of people living with sickle cell disease.
Representatives of the initiative, Saleh Faruq Gagarawa and Okedi Sylvia, were received by the Vice-Chancellor of Azman University, Prof. Fatima Batul Mukhtar, during the signing ceremony.
The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the University Registrar, Aminu Ibrahim Lawal; University Librarian, Dr Ali Garba Karaye; and other members of staff.
The partnership is aimed at strengthening collaboration between the university and the initiative in the areas of health awareness, research and community engagement.
It will also provide a platform for supporting individuals and families affected by sickle cell disease, while promoting greater public understanding of the condition.
The collaboration is expected to contribute to efforts aimed at improving knowledge, research and support services relating to sickle cell disease within the community.
