Five more victims of the Abuja-Kaduna terrorist train attack have been released on Tuesday, the New Citizen was told today.
Malam Tukur Mamu, the publisher of Desert Herald newspaper who played a role of mediation between the Federal Government and the indurgents holding them, confirmed the names of the five as Prof. Mustapha Umar Imam, Akibu Lawal, Abubakar Ahmed Rufai, Mukthar Shu’aibu and Sidi Aminu Sharif.
Mamu, who holds the traditional title of Dan’iyan Fika, said in a statement made available to New Citizen that the released victims were in his office this afternoon, immediately after their release, in order to thank him for his past efforts.
He had in recent times voluntarily engaged in negotiating the release of the train victims but backed out due to what he described as “threats to his life, personal integrity and lack of support from the Federal Government.”
