Amina Adamu, one of three housewives kidnapped four weeks ago along the Takum-Katsina-Ala road in Takum local government area of Taraba state, has managed to escape from the kidnappers’ hideout.
According to Mallam Maiwada, a relative of her husband, Amina escaped while the kidnappers were asleep.
However, two other housewives and the daughter of General T.Y. Danjuma’s brother are still held captive by the kidnappers.
It was also learned that two individuals who delivered the ransom for the release of the three housewives were detained by the kidnappers.
Mr. Benjamin, the brother of General T.Y. Danjuma, was abducted along with his wife and daughter, but he was released after a ransom was paid.
Nevertheless, the kidnappers refused to release his wife and daughter.
Residents of Takum are under threat from kidnappers who operate both day and night along the Takum-Katsina-Ala and Takum-Kashinbila roads.
One resident, Bello Haruna, told Daily Trust that traveling on these roads is very risky due to the kidnappers’ activities.
He said many people, mainly traders, have been kidnapped along these roads, and many are still in captivity.
The Acting Police Public Relations Officer of the Taraba police command, DSP Kwache Gambo, stated that she would contact the DPO of Takum regarding the incident, but she had not done so at the time of this report.
