The National President of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Dr Usman Oladipo Akanbi, has described Christmas as a time of healing and renewed hope of goodwill towards all people.
In a statement he issued on the occasion of the Yuletide, Akanbi said: “It is with a heart full of joy that I, on behalf of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), wish all Nigerian writers and the entire citizens of our dear country a Christmas celebration filled with joy and peace.
“Christmas is an annual feast that celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace. It is a demonstration of God’s great love for mankind; and also a time of healing and renewed hope of goodwill towards all people.
“As authors, this time calls for sober reflection on how we can deploy our creative talents in the promotion of such invaluable ideals as peace, tolerance, patriotism, forgiveness, compassion, and empathy.”
The president expressed the hope that the peace and joy that come with this festive season “will radiate in every heart.”
