Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has approved the appointment of 3 second-class Emirs for Rano, Gaya, and Karaye Emirates.
This announcement was made in a statement issued by the governor’s spokesperson, Mr. Sanusi Tofa, and was shared with newsmen in Kano on Tuesday.
These new emirates will serve as second-class emirates, with Kano remaining as the first-class emirate.
Yusuf appointed Alhaji Muhammad Karaye as the Emir of Karaye. Before his appointment, Karaye served as the District Head of Rogo.
Similarly, Alhaji Muhammad Umar was appointed as the Emir of Rano. Umar was previously the District Head of Bunkure.
Alhaji Aliyu Gaya was named the Emir of Gaya. He was the emir of the former Gaya emirate.
While congratulating the newly appointed Emirs, Yusuf urged them to be custodians of culture, peace, and unity in their respective emirates.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Yusuf signed into law the establishment of three second-class emirates on July 16.
Rano Emirate will cover Rano, Kibiya, and Bunkure Local Government Areas (LGAs); Gaya Emirate will cover Gaya, Ajingi, and Albasu LGAs; and Karaye Emirate will cover Karaye and Rogo LGAs.
The appointments are effective immediately. (NAN)
