Historic picture was taken in Kano of some of the leading participants in the debate on “Kano Market Literature” of the early 1990s: Malam Ado Ahmad Gidan Dabino, Prof. Yusuf Adamu, Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu, and Prof. Ibrahim Malumfashi. The fifth “musketeer” in the debate to complete the picture would have been Malam Ibrahim Sheme, but he was absent.
The picture was taken at the Hausa International Books and Arts Festival (HIBAF), held in Kano, on December 17, 2023, where Gidan Dabino was given a Lifetime Achievement Award for his services to Hausa literature.
HIBAF is organised by a Foundation owned by Professor Ibrahim Malumfashi.
