The Makarfi Local Government Education Support Committee in Kaduna State has honoured two indigenes of the area, Professor Aisha Abdulkadir and Professor Gausu Ahmad, for their outstanding academic achievements and contributions to their respective fields.
Abdulkadir, the Head of the Soil Science Department at the Institute for Agricultural Research (IAR) in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and Ahmad, of the Department of Mass Communication at Bayero University Kano, were each presented with an award of excellence during separate ceremonies held at their respective universities.
The ceremony, held separately at both universities, was officiated by the District Head of Makarfi, Alhaji Adamu Abdullahi.
The District Head lauded the professors as role models and commended them for their contributions to the academia and community development.
Alhaji Abdullahi specifically commended Abdulkadir for her commitment to advancing agricultural excellence and bridging the gap between academia and the farming community.
He also described Ahmad as an academician who has nurtured young generations to embrace journalism as a profession.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the committee, Alhaji Mahmud Gazara, emphasised the tradition of honouring individuals that n the area who achieve such significant milestones.
He expressed hope that the two professors’ achievements would inspire the younger generation in the area.
The presentations were attended by distinguished guests from both universities and the Makarfi community, led by the District Head and members of the committee.
