The Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MOPPAN) has urged the newly elected governor of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to work hard on fulfilling his election campaign promises and not be given to “greed and quest for selfish and personal aggrandizement.”
In a congratulatory message signed by its Secretary-General, Salisu Mu’azu, the association of largely Hausa film stakeholders told Yusuf: “On behalf of the leadership and members of Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria, MOPPAN, we congratulate you on your emergence as the Kano State executive governor.
“Your victory is a victory for all, irrespective of political affiliation.
May your renowned brilliance not be eclipsed by greed and quest for selfish and personal aggrandizement.
“Your emergence is a major pointer that politics today is tilting towards meritocracy.
“Your campaign promises to rebuild Kano is one which encapsulates the whole yearning of the masses and we expect that you will hit the ground running as you face this daunting task.
“The task ahead is enormous but the fact that you have goodwill from across board should make the task a bit easy for you and we hope that you will use this goodwill to make Kanawa proud of you.
“Let your word be your bond. Let there be a positive difference seen and felt across the state.
“The best way to thank the Kano people for this mandate is by giving it your best shot and delivering on your campaign promises.
“We urge you to dare to be different. A lot of trust and confidence has been bestowed upon you and we expect that you do not disappoint.
“Once again, congratulations Your Excellency and thanks for your tenacity, steadfastness and consistent courage.
“The work starts now!I t’s time to write your name in gold.”
In a related development, MOPPAN congratulated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and expressed its readiness to work with him on the development of the Nigerian film industry.
