Special Forces of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) have neutralized a notorious terrorist leader, Mustapha Abdullahi, along with five of his associates in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Air Vice Marshal Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF, stated on Sunday that the Special Forces were deployed from the 413 Force Protection Group.
According to Gabkwet, the deployment was in response to an intelligence report received on August 31, indicating that the terrorist leader and his group were spotted near Sabon Gida forest along Sabon Birni Road.
The intelligence suggested that the terrorists might be planning to kidnap, harm, or kill innocent civilians.
Gabkwet explained that upon encountering the terrorists, who were riding motorcycles, the terrorists immediately opened fire when they saw the Special Forces. However, the troops responded with superior firepower.
All the terrorists were neutralized, and the troops recovered five Dane guns, a locally made sub-machine gun, live ammunition, various charms, lighters, SIM cards, and cell phone cases.
“Efforts by the troops to rid Igabi, Birnin Gwari, and environs of criminals and their activities remain ongoing.
“Troops have also been commended and urged to intensify ongoing efforts to safeguard lives and property,” he said. (NAN)
