The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna has asked the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the source of money allegedly being distributed to prospective voters in the state.
In a press statement Friday, the Secretary of the party in the state, Ibrahim Aliyu Wusono, accused the ruling All Progressives Party (APC) of sharing N10,000 to each prospective voter after collecting their permanent voters card (PVC).
He said: “What started as a rumour that Senator Uba Sani has earmarked billions of naira for vote-buying where 15 people are currently being selected per each polling unit across the state in order to execute the plan has now become true.
“This panic plan clearly shows APC has realised that, despite the Muslim-Muslim ticket, Kaduna State people are determined to vote them out and therefore cooked this plan, which clearly shows how desperate APC is to retain power in the state.”
Wusono added: “We wish to assure them that no amount of money will make people change their minds.”
The opposition party urged the EFCC and the police to investigate what it called a “scandal” to find out the source of the funds, the motive behind it for possible prosecution of the culprits.
“Let us emphasise that people of Kaduna State are wise enough to be deceived by these scam,” the PDP scribe said.
“You can’t destroy people’s means of livehood, destroyed educational sector, commercialise health sector and put people in abject poverty and despair but expect them to vote your candidates,” he added.
He pointed out that the state governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufa’i, has stated in a recent media chat that “all policies executed in the state in the last 7 years have the blessings of Senator Uba Sani, now APC governorship candidate.”
He also maintained that the governor had said the senator, “being an Abuja guy, will not spare the people like how he (El-Rufa’i) did.”
Wusono said: “We are therefore challenging Senator Uba Sani to come clear on this information as sharing trader money some few months to election will not help him.”
