The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) reports that the ongoing protest against hardship in the country has turned violent in the area.
FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the police are becoming overwhelmed.
She noted that protesters are emerging from various locations, disregarding the initial order to confine the protest to Moshood Abiola Stadium.
“The protesters are coming out from different locations and are becoming violent.
“We are trying to curtail them but currently, they are being very violent,” she said.
Earlier, the PPRO had informed NAN that the command was in control of the protest.
She explained that the violence erupted when protesters began moving to Eagle Square, contrary to the initial restriction to Moshood Abiola Stadium. (NAN)
