President Bola Tinubu has appointed Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed as the new Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA) and Mr. Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi as the new Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS).
The appointments followed the resignation of the previous heads of the NIA and DSS.
With a career spanning nearly three decades in the foreign service, Ambassador Mohammed joined the NIA in 1995 and has served in various capacities, including as the head of the Nigerian mission to Libya.
He is a graduate of Bayero University, Kano, and has also served in North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and at the State House in Abuja.
Mr. Ajayi, who was formerly the Assistant Director-General of the DSS, has extensive experience within the service, having served as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi states.
President Tinubu expects the new leaders to bring their extensive experience to bear in tackling Nigeria’s security challenges.
He has charged them with enhancing collaboration with other security agencies and aligning closely with the Office of the National Security Adviser to ensure a more effective response to the nation’s security issues.
The President also expressed his gratitude to the outgoing Directors-General of the NIA and DSS for their service to the nation and wished them well in their future endeavors.
