The death has occurred of the famous actor, Alhaji Usman Baba Pategi, who was best known as Samanja.
He died last night at the private Garden City Hospital located on Road, Kaduna, after a protracted illness.
Confirming the death, one of his sons, Mohammed Usman, disclosed that the deceased was aged 84 and left two wives and 12 children.
Samanja’s funeral prayer took place at 10:00 a.m. at the Juma’at Mosque in Ja’afaru Estate, in the Kabala Costain ward of Kaduna city.
He was buried at the Ɓachama Road cemetery in Tudun Wada, Kaduna.
Alhaji Usman made a name as the producer, director and lead character of the popular drama show titled ‘Samanja Mazan Fama’ on FRCN Kaduna in the 1980s to 1990s. The drama was also featured on Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) at a time.
