KADUNA – The reconstruction of the Abuja–Kaduna highway has reached about 85 per cent completion, according to officials supervising the project.

The officials disclosed this during a visit by journalists participating in the “Seeing is Believing” (Gani Ya Kori Ji) tour of major Federal Government projects across Northern Nigeria.

The media team, led by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Public Enlightenment, Malam Abdulaziz Abdulaziz, visited the project after inspecting the Kaduna Western Bypass and the Green Ville CNG Station in Kaduna State.

The project officials said work is progressing steadily and to a high standard, adding that once completed, the highway will significantly reduce travel time, ease traffic congestion, improve the safety of road users, and boost commercial activities between the Federal Capital Territory and the northern states.

They explained that the road is being reconstructed with reinforced concrete pavement instead of asphalt to ensure greater durability, reduce maintenance requirements, and extend the lifespan of the highway.

According to the officials, the project is one of the flagship infrastructure initiatives of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration under the Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritises the development of critical infrastructure across the country.

Speaking after the inspection, Malam Abdulaziz Abdulaziz described the Abuja–Kaduna highway as one of Nigeria’s most strategic transport corridors, noting that the Federal Government gave the project priority because of its importance to national connectivity, trade and economic growth.

He said the “Seeing is Believing” tour was designed to give journalists first-hand access to ongoing government projects, enabling them to provide Nigerians with accurate and factual reports on the progress being made.

The media team commended the Federal Government and the Federal Ministry of Works for the pace and quality of the reconstruction, expressing confidence that the completed highway would improve transportation, enhance security and deliver lasting economic benefits to millions of Nigerians who use the Abuja–Kaduna road.
