The Kaduna State Government has inaugurated the governing boards of four key state agencies, including the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC), charging the newly appointed members to promote efficiency, integrity and digital transformation.

The joint inauguration ceremony was held on Thursday at the Banquet Hall in Kawo, Kaduna, with the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Abdulkadir Mayere, presiding on behalf of Governor Uba Sani.

Other agencies whose governing boards were inaugurated are the Kaduna State Livestock Regulatory Authority, Kaduna State Quality Assurance Authority, and the Kaduna State Scholarship and Loans Board.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mayere urged the board members to adhere strictly to the laws establishing their respective agencies, maintain financial transparency and avoid conflicts of interest in the discharge of their duties.

He also reminded the members that their primary responsibility was to provide policy direction and oversight, rather than interfere in the day-to-day administrative operations of the agencies.

The newly constituted six-member board of the Kaduna State Media Corporation is chaired by veteran journalist and media executive, Mallam El-Saeed Yakubu Lere.

Also serving on the board is Yunusa Mohammed Abdullahi, the state’s Director of Media Relations, who will represent the Ministry of Information and Culture and help align the corporation’s operations with the communication policies of the state government.

The new KSMC board is expected to provide strategic policy direction aimed at improving operational efficiency, upgrading broadcasting equipment and expanding digital content delivery.

Other responsibilities include promoting educational and balanced programming and ensuring strict compliance with state procurement laws, existing financial regulations and statutory broadcasting standards.

Speaking on behalf of the newly inaugurated boards, the Chairman of the Kaduna State Quality Assurance Authority board, Mr. Tanko Kokwain Baji, thanked Governor Sani for the opportunity to serve the state.

Kokwain assured the government that the boards would commit themselves to repositioning Kaduna State as a benchmark for excellence across the affected sectors.

He particularly highlighted the need to strengthen educational standards and address the challenge of out-of-school children in the state.

“We shall do the best we can to deliver on these tasks,” Kokwain said.

He called for transparency, unity of purpose and institutional discipline among the boards and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of their mandates.
