North Central stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have announced plans to hold a mega rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Saturday to mobilise support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general elections.
The rally, scheduled for October 10, will be hosted by Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule, while the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is expected to headline the event.
The decision followed a meeting of APC stakeholders from the North Central region held in Abuja on Thursday and chaired by the party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda.
The meeting was attended by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume; governors and deputy governors from the region; ministers; members of the National Assembly and other political office holders.
Briefing journalists after the meeting, Yilwatda said the stakeholders had agreed to mobilise their political structures and supporters across the region for the rally.
He described the planned event as the “mother of all rallies” and said it was intended to demonstrate the North Central region’s support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket ahead of the 2027 elections.
According to him, the stakeholders also agreed to coordinate their activities and strengthen grassroots mobilisation across the region.
Yilwatda commended Akume for bringing together APC stakeholders from the North Central states and Governor Sule for agreeing to host the rally in Nasarawa State.
The meeting also reviewed arrangements for the participation of party leaders, women, youths, grassroots organisations and other supporters from the six North Central states and the Federal Capital Territory.
The APC chairman began the briefing by expressing condolences to the families of victims of the recent Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Ondo State and those who died in a mining-related incident in Niger State.
He described the incidents as painful losses and sympathised with the affected families and communities.
The stakeholders subsequently reaffirmed their commitment to the successful hosting of the Lafia rally and to supporting the re-election bid of Tinubu and Shettima in the 2027 general elections.
