Tozali Media Group has called for greater support for women and girls affected by kidnapping, banditry, terrorism and other forms of insecurity as it hosted the 8th Henna Ball and Tozali People’s Awards in Abuja.
The event, held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, at the Los Angeles Event Centre, Ahmadu Bello Way, Abuja, was organised under the theme, “Empowering Survivors. Restoring Hope.”
It brought together former First Ladies, state governors, traditional rulers and other prominent Nigerians to promote survivor empowerment and humanitarian advocacy.
The annual gathering seeks to use media, entertainment and public engagement to promote social impact, particularly by drawing attention to the plight of women and girls affected by insecurity and mobilising support for their rehabilitation, empowerment and reintegration into society.
Among the dignitaries who attended were former First Ladies of Nigeria, Dr. Mrs. Maryam Sani Abacha and Hajiya Turai Umaru Musa Yar’Adua, as well as the Emir of Dutse and other traditional rulers.
Also present were Zamfara State Governor, Dr. Dauda Lawal; the Minister of Art, Culture and the Creative Economy, Bar. Hannatu Musa Musawa, who was the chief host; and the Wazirin Dutse, Alhaji Bashir Mohammed Dalhatu, who chaired the occasion.
Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, was represented by the state’s Commissioner for Information.
Also present was former Niger State Governor, Dr. Babangida Aliyu.
The event featured the recognition of individuals whose contributions to public service, leadership, humanitarian activities, entertainment, business and national development have made significant impacts on society.
It also featured a red-carpet reception, fashion showcases, musical performances and awards presentations.
Beyond the celebrations, the organisers said the event remained focused on raising awareness about the challenges faced by vulnerable women and girls and mobilising support for their rehabilitation, empowerment and reintegration into society.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Tozali Group of Companies, Hajiya Maimuna Yaya Abubakar, expressed appreciation to the dignitaries, traditional rulers, award recipients, sponsors, media partners and other guests for contributing to the success of the programme.
She said the Henna Ball was more than an annual social gathering, describing it as a platform for celebrating excellence while drawing sustained public attention to humanitarian causes.
Hajiya Maimuna also acknowledged the contributions of sponsors and partners, noting that their support had strengthened the organisation’s commitment to combining media influence with social responsibility.
She further commended the group’s staff, volunteers, organising committees, service providers and media practitioners for their dedication to planning and executing the event.
Tozali Media Group said the successful hosting of the eighth edition had strengthened its resolve to sustain the initiative and expand its humanitarian interventions, with particular emphasis on ensuring that the needs and voices of survivors remained part of national discussions.
The organisation reaffirmed its belief that survivors deserved dignity, opportunities and the support needed to rebuild their lives, stressing that collective action, advocacy and empowerment were essential to restoring hope.
