A ghastly motor accident has claimed the lives of six Islamic clerics in Kano State on Wednesday after they attended an Islamic propagation outreach, dubbed da’awah.
A report by the Daily Nigerian said the clerics were returning from the da’awah in Sumaila Local Government Area of the state, which was supported by the Imam Malik Islamic Foundation.
A staff of the foundation, who did not want to be mentioned, told the online newspaper that the foundation received the news of the incident at about 3:00 pm today.
According to her, the information they received was that all six clerics, who were the leaders of the da’awah, had died.
She added that there was no information on the fate of other staff who accompanied the clerics to the function in Sumaila.
The source added that the deceased were under the leadership of Sheikh Alkassim Zakariyya, who also died in the accident.
She said: “We have now assembled at the foundation in Dakata area. We are now proceeding to the residence of Sheik Alkassim Zakariyya for their burial.”
When contacted, the spokesperson of Federal Road Safety Corp (FRSC) in the state, Abdullahi Labaran, said the command was yet to receive the information, but he would investigate the news.
