The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Kwara Command has cautioned individuals planning to use the August 1 nationwide protest for criminal purposes to refrain from such activities or face legal consequences.
Mr. Umar Mohammed, the Commandant of the corps in Kwara, issued this warning in a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Ayoola Shola, on Monday in Ilorin.
While acknowledging the right to protest, Mohammed encouraged youths and other citizens to express their grievances peacefully and legally, emphasizing the need to maintain national security and public safety.
He urged state residents to carry on with their daily routines without fear, assuring them that measures have been put in place to address potential threats.
According to Mohammed, the command is on high alert and has implemented comprehensive measures to maintain law and order before, during, and after the protest.
“The command will not stand by as hoodlums cause destruction and vandalize critical national assets and infrastructure. Adequate security personnel will be deployed across the state to ensure the safety of life and property,” he stated. (NAN)
