The second congress of the World Organisation of Writers (WOW) is scheduled to take place in Moscow, Russia, between September 20–21, 2025.
The conference, which will be held in collaboration with the World Public Assembly (WPA) under the slogan, “We are People of the Same Planet,” aims to foster literary cooperation and a multipolar global cultural dialogue and literary discourse.
An statement from WOW said tthe event will feature seven parallel round tables covering topics like the role of writers’ communities, the art of translation, media’s role in promoting literature, education, the support for young writers, book fairs, and the intersection of drama and cinematography with literary culture.
It added: “The upcoming Congress in Moscow which will be a space for live dialogue, deep reflection, and collective thinking about the future of world literature will be attended by writers and poets, playwrights and essayists, philosophers and translators, literary agents and editors as well as representatives of literary unions, cultural initiatives, media, and humanitarian institutions from over 100 countries.”
It said the Moscow outing follows the vibrant and impactful first World Congress of Writers, which took place in Abuja, Nigeria, between April 4-6, 2024 under the auspices of the Pan African Writers Association (PAWA).
