The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has announced a final verification exercise for allottees and holders of genuine interests in the defunct Dukpa, Gwagwalada Site and Services Scheme in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), ahead of their relocation to an alternative site.

The ministry, in a statement issued by its Director of Press and Public Relations, Badamasi Haiba, said the verification exercise would run for three weeks from September 7, 2026.

According to the statement, the exercise will be conducted strictly on working days at the office of the Presidential Technical Committee on Land Reform (PTCLR), Garki 2, and the Department of Lands and Housing Development at the ministry’s headquarters in Mabushi, Abuja.

Affected allottees are required to present the original and photocopies of their Letter of Allocation, payment receipts, valid identification, a sworn affidavit supporting their claim of ownership and passport photographs.

The ministry warned that any plot or allottee not verified within the stipulated period would not be included in the relocation exercise, stressing that no further extension would be granted.

The Dukpa residential and service plots were originally allocated in 1992 by the then Federal Ministry of Works and Housing for private development.

The government subsequently revoked the allocations and other interests in the area for overriding public purposes connected with the National Housing Programme (NHP).

The ministry said the decision to relocate genuine allottees was in line with Section 28(2B) of the Land Use Act, Cap 202, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, as amended.

It said an alternative site had been secured within Gwagwalada for the relocation of all genuine allottees whose claims are successfully authenticated.

The ministry therefore urged affected members of the public to take advantage of the final verification window to regularise their status and secure eligibility for relocation.
