A chieftaincy family in Lagos State has commended the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Alhaji Alkali Baba Usman, for restoring a piece of disputed land located at the T-Junction in Epe to its rightful owner.

In a press statement, the spokesperson of the Iposu Chieftaincy family in Epe Division of the state, Mr. Sharafadeen Iposu, expressed gratitude to the IGP for his “fearlessness, firmness and objectivity towards discharging his duties to the best of his knowledge and in upholding the rule of law.”

The piece of land had been locked up by the police on the basis of a petition by Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun to the Police Force Criminal Investigative Department (CID) in Abuja in which he stated that there would be a breakdown of law and order if the land was released to the Iposu family.

A court sitting in Epe had earlier ruled against the Oba’s application for interlocutory injection to prevent the lposu family from entering the land pending the matter in court.

Iposu said: “We want to commend IGP Alkali Baba and his police management team for their sincere efforts towards upholding the rule of law despite all challenges.

“We appeal to the IGP to sustain this operational strategy and fairness in discharging his lawful duties.”

Iposu appealed to the indigenes of Epe division to henceforth deal with the Iposu chieftaincy family directly in any of their land matters in the area.
