The Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) has mourned the death of one of the country’s foremost literary critics, Professor Charles Nnolim.
The author of many well researched works on African Literature, including but not limited to “Literature, Literary Criticism, and National Development”, died yesterday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
In a joint statement issued today, the ANA President and General Secretary, Usman Oladipo Akanbi and Dame Joan Oji respectively, noted that Nnolim was a Professor of English, University of Port Harcourt.
They said: “A Fellow of the Nigerian Academy of Letters, Fellow of the Literary Society of Nigeria, Fellow of the International Biographical Association, and Fellow of the World Literary Academy, the late professor is reverred as one of Africa’s best in the field.
“Our condolences go to his family, friends, associates, former students, and former colleagues. May his noble soul rest in perfect peace.”
