The All Progressive Congress (APC) has removed Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume (Borno South) from his role as Senate Chief Whip, replacing him with Mohammed Tahir Monguno (Borno North) after Ndume criticized President Bola Tinubu in a TV interview.
In a letter from the APC, signed by Chairman Alhaji Abdullahi Ganduje and Secretary Bashir Ajibola, and read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, the party stated that Ndume was free to resign and join an opposition party rather than undermine the government and party while remaining within its ranks.
Following the reading of the letter, Akpabio asked the APC Senate Caucus to voice their support or opposition to the party’s decision, with the majority voting “aye.”
Consequently, Akpabio immediately instructed Monguno to step forward and assume the position of Senate Chief Whip, replacing Ndume.
