President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed heartfelt condolences to former First Lady Hajiya Maryam Abacha and her family on the death of her son, Abdullahi.
A press release issued by Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, said: “The president’s prayers and thoughts are with the family of Abacha as they grieve the passing of the young Abdullahi.
“The president prays for the repose of the soul of the deceased and comfort for those who mourn.”
Abdullahi was reported to have died early Saturday at the family’s residence on Nelson Mandela Street in Abuja, the age of 36.
His sister, Fatimah Gumsu Abacha-Buni, the wife of Yobe State governor, said announced the death via a tweet on Saturday.
She wrote: “Inna lillahi wa inna ilaihi raji’un. I lost my younger brother Abdullahi Sani Abacha.
“May Allah forgive his shortcomings and grant him jannatul firdous, Ameen. Please include him in your prayers.”
Abdullahi was said to be one of the nine children left behind by the late former head of state, General Sani Abacha.
