Officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) have arrested the controversial cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, at the Seme border while allegedly attempting to flee Nigeria.
The NIS Public Relations Officer, DCI KT Udo, said in a press release that Bobrisky was intercepted by immigration authorities due to his attempted exit from Nigeria.
He described the social media personality as a “person of interest in recent issues of public concern and is currently undergoing interrogation.”
Udo said: “In keeping with its commitment to securing the borders, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) intercepted Okuneye Idris Olanrewaju otherwise known as Bobrisky at the Seme border over an attempt to exit the country.
“The Service wishes to inform the public that OKUNEYE IDRIS is a person of interest over recent issues of public concern.
“He is undergoing interrogation and will be handed over to the appropriate authorities for further action.
“The Service assures the public that it will continue to be civil and professional in its statutory responsibility of manning the country’s borders.”
It would be recalled that Bobrisky is under an investigation by the House of Representatives, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), and the NIS over bribery allegations following a leaked audio recording by social media influencer Martins Ortse (a.k.a. VeryDarkMan).
Ortse had alleged that Bobrisky paid EFCC officials N15 million to drop the money laundering charges they brought against him, an allegation Bobrisky has yet to respond to.
