The Governor of Katsina State, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has expressed his commitment to cultural preservation and archeological treasures.

The handover was made by the Minister of Arts, Culture and the Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, at a ceremony in Lagos.

Radda noted that the return of Durɓi Takusheyi to Katsina was a source of pride to the state, adding that the new development was an assurance that the administration’s vision for cultural promotion was yielding positive results.

At the ceremony, the Executive Director of the Katsina State History and Culture Bureau and leader of the Katsina delegation, Dr. Kabir Ali Masanawa, emphasised the historical significance of the event.

He said: “This is a historic achievement. These artifacts are a testament to the advanced civilisation of our ancestors—far more sophisticated than history has often portrayed. We will continue to preserve our past to inspire future generations.

“The governor’s strategic focus on cultural restoration has positioned Katsina State as a model for heritage preservation in Nigeria, with the Durɓi Takusheyi artifacts representing a crowning achievement in these efforts.”

The occasion recognised the tireless contributions of cultural advocate Musa Umar Yar’Adua instrumental role in facilitating the artifacts’ return through years of dedicated work.

Kaula said: “To establish the state as a destination for cultural tourism and historical education, the Radda Administration is planning to showcase these recovered treasures through an international exhibition in Katsina.”
