Security agencies in Kano State today conducted a “show of force” to ensure a peaceful and secure environment for the upcoming Eid-El-Fitr Sallah celebrations.
The operation, which took place at various strategic locations across the state, showcased the readiness and commitment of the police command, in conjunction with other security agencies, to maintain law and order during the festive period.
The show of force involved the Police, military, DSS, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Correctional Service, National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The Police Public Relations Officer, of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, said in a press release that it aimed at deterring any potential threats, building confidence, and assuring the public of their safety.
He quoted the Commissioner of Police, Kano State Command, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, as saying, “As we approach the joyous occasion of Eid-El-Fitr, it is imperative that we provide a safe and secure atmosphere for all residents to celebrate with peace of mind.
“This show of force underscores our dedication to ensuring public safety and fostering an environment where all individuals can enjoy the festivities in tranquility.”
In addition to the visible increase in security presence, the police command also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest security outfit.
The command emphasised the importance of community cooperation in maintaining peace and security, especially during festive occasions.
Kiyawa said additional joint security personnel have deployed to various prayer grounds, parks, and other public places, to facilitate a smooth and secure celebration.
“All hands are on deck to monitor activities and respond swiftly to any incidents that may arise,” he added.
The command urged everyone to “celebrate responsibly and embrace the spirit of unity, love, and tolerance that Eid-El-Fitr symbolises.”
