Esther Adelana is a young and particularly promising actor in the creative writing industry. This play, which tells an interesting story of our cultural past and creates a necessity for feminist thoughts, attests to her literary versatility and ability to impact her environment through her writings.
The fact that some women are crossing the boundaries of gender prejudice, through appointment to political positions does not mean that the battle for women emancipation has been won. What remains of the struggle is by far more than a rearguard action, because the antagonists too, are not retreating.
Esther’s ‘Ìbálé’ comes just at the right time to add strength to the fading voice of feminism.
It is a laudable expression of faith in the feminist struggle.
The plot structure is well-laid, and it paints for us a clear picture of what we will get from our attachment to primitive traditions which undermine the personality and potential of the woman.
