Former councillors in Jigawa honour Badaru with excellence in leadership award

The Forum of Elected Former Councillors in Jigawa State yesterday honoured the Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, with the award of Excellence in Leadership.

A press statement signed by the Personal Assistant on Media and Publicity to the Minister, Mati Ali, said the Forum, which consists of former councillors who served during Badaru’s administration when he was the Jigawa State governor, paid a courtesy visit to him at his residence in Kano.

They honoured him with a plaque of appreciation, recognising his exceptional leadership as the first governor to settle all outstanding severance allowances owed to local government councillors in the state, dating back from 1999 to 2023.

Chairman of the Forum, Alhaji Mustafa Isyaku Sholy, presented the award on behalf of his former colleagues, expressing gratitude for the goodwill and support they received during Badaru’s tenure as governor.

The Forum reiterated their unwavering support and loyalty to him and pledged their continued solidarity with him in all his political endeavours in the state.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Jallo, the Member representing the Hadejia Constituency in the Jigawa State House of Assembly, and Alhaji Ahmed Rufa’i Gumel, a former Chairman of Gumel Local Government Area.
