He emphasized that the approved weight limit of 32kg for main luggage and 8kg for hand luggage per pilgrim must be strictly followed.
The Public Relations Officer of the agency, Yunusa M. Abdullahi, said in a press statement that tassist pilgrims, the agency has installed weighing machines at all pilgrims’ accommodations in Makkah, allowing them to check their luggage weight before the official process.

He quoted Gwadabe as warning that failure to comply with the 32kg limit could delay pilgrims’ return to Nigeria.

The chairman reiterated that both the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) and Saudi authorities will not tolerate excess luggage.

Pilgrims were also cautioned against carrying sharp objects, toy guns, firearms, explosives, flammable items, meat cleavers, blades, and scissors in their hand luggage.

The committee clarified that each pilgrim is entitled to five litres of Zamzam water, which has already been transported to Nigeria during the airlift, as such carrying additional Zamzam water or perfumes (especially in aerosol cans) is unnecessary and prohibited.

Pilgrims with excess luggage will be required to hand it over to NAHCON-approved cargo companies for proper handling.

Gwadabe assured that upon arrival in Nigeria, all pilgrims would receive their main luggage and the allocated five litres of Zamzam water at the Kaduna Hajj Camp.

“These airplanes have limits and cannot carry beyond their capacities,” he said, adding, “Overloading endangers everyone on board. Pilgrims must comply with the rules to avoid penalties and flight delays.”
