A Hausa film industry association, the Kannywood Foundation, has elected a new set of officials to oversee its affairs.
This followed the expiration of the previous executive council’s tenure.
The election was held on Sunday, February 1, 2026, at the Foundation’s office in Kano, marking a smooth transition of leadership in line with the organisation’s constitution.
The newly elected officers are Malam Khalid Musa as President; Auwalu Isma’il Marshall, Vice President; Kabiru Maikaba, Secretary; Bala Anas Babinlata, Project Director; Yakubu Liman – Director of Public Relations; Shehu S. Bello, Auditor; Adamu Mohammed, Treasurer, and Ahmed Alkanawy as Procurement Director.
A press release signed by the new Director of Public Relations, Yakubu Liman, explained that the Kannywood Foundation is a charitable organisation duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
“It is committed to giving back to society through humanitarian, cultural, and developmental initiatives,” he said, adding, “The Foundation comprises respected veterans and elders of the Kannywood film industry, whose experience continues to guide its mission and vision.”
