‎Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially flagged off the second batch of 590 beneficiaries under the ongoing 1,001 Postgraduate Foreign and Domestic Scholarship Programme of the state government.

‎This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday by the Governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

‎Speaking at the flag-off ceremony held in Kano, the governor said the scholarship initiative first introduced by Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, was revived by his administration to build the intellectual and professional capacity of Kano youths both at home and abroad.

‎He explained that 418 students benefited in the first batch of the scheme at a total cost of ₦5 billion, adding that all have successfully completed their studies, with a few securing employment overseas.

He said:‎ “This second phase involving 350 foreign and 240 domestic postgraduate students marks another milestone in our journey to build a strong resource base that will position Kano as a hub of excellence and progress.”

‎He congratulated the new beneficiaries for earning their places through academic merit and moral integrity, urging them to remain focused, disciplined, and to serve as worthy ambassadors of Kano State and Nigeria.

‎The governor prayed for their safe travels and successful studies, assuring that his administration will continue to prioritize education as the foundation of progress, innovation, and prosperity in Kano State.

‎Yusuf emphasised that the scholarship programme forms part of a broader educational reform agenda that has seen the state allocate 31% of its 2025 budget to education the highest in Kano’s history.
