In a farewell statement to staff of the agency and other stakeholders dated January 12, Ahmed thanked them for the cooperation and support they gave him during his three-year tenure.

The statement in full:

“Dear Esteemed Stakeholders,

“With mixed emotions, I pen down these words to bid you farewell as the Artistic Director and CEO of the National Troupe of Nigeria.

It has been an incredible journey (27th April 2021 to 12th January 2024), marked by artistic achievements, collaborative endeavours, and unwavering support from all of you.

“I extend my deepest appreciation to former President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR for the privilege to serve in this esteemed position. Your visionary leadership has been a guiding light, and I am grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the cultural landscape of our great nation under your administration.

“To the staff, and all stakeholders of the National Troupe of Nigeria, I express my heartfelt gratitude.

“Your dedication and passion for the arts have been the driving force behind the success we have achieved together.

“The National Troupe is not just an institution; it is a family of creative minds, and I am honoured to have been part of this family.

As I step aside, I am confident that the incoming Chief Executive, Hajiya Khaltume Bulama Gana, will bring fresh perspectives and innovative ideas to further elevate the National Troupe.

“I offer my sincere congratulations to Khaltume Bulama Gana and assure her of my support during this transition.

“Our shared commitment to promoting the rich cultural heritage of Nigeria remains unwavering.

“I believe that, under your guard, the guidance of Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, the Honourable Minister of Arts Culture and Creative Economy, and the fatherly leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, the National Troupe will continue to thrive and inspire generations to come.

“Once again, thank you for the privilege of serving as the Artistic Director and CEO. I carry with me cherished memories and the knowledge that the National Troupe of Nigeria is in capable hands.

“Best wishes to each one of you, and may the arts continue to flourish under the banner of our beloved National Troupe. Warm regards.”
