The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has arrested 5 individuals in Kano on charges of vandalism and theft.
Mohammad Lawal-Falala, the Commandant of the Corps in Kano State, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday.
According to Lawal-Falala, the arrests were made by the anti-vandalism unit during their midnight patrols.
Adnan Umar (26) and Musa Shuayb (24) were apprehended while vandalizing armored streetlight cables and attempting to steal three rolls of copper wire on IBB Way, near the Fagge/Kofar Wambai new market.
In another incident, the Corps arrested three suspects for motorcycle theft, including one person who was found receiving a stolen motorcycle. The suspects are Saminu Magaji (19), Haruna Idris (22), and Ahmed Abubakar (38). Two other suspects involved in the thefts are currently at large.
The Commandant mentioned that the suspects, all from Gwammaja in Dala Local Government Area, are known for breaking into homes and stealing motorcycles and personal items.
The suspects are currently under investigation and will be prosecuted once the investigation is completed.
