The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has announced the release of another female prospective Corps member and the driver of a bus kidnapped in Zamfara State.
It said the release was made possible in a combined effort between it and the military.
The duo were kidnapped while on their way to the NYSC orientation camp in Sokoto State last year.
This brings the total number of Corps members (PCMs) already released to five.
The Director, Press and Public Relations in the NYSC, Mr. Eddy Megwa, said in a statement that efforts are still ongoing to ensure that the remaining three (one female and two male) still in captivity regain their freedom soonest.
He said the Director General off the NYSC, Brigadier General Y.D. Ahmed, appreciates the security agents for their untiring efforts that resulted in the release of the two, adding that the scheme “would never shirk its responsibility of upholding the welfare of Corps members at all times.”
