The outspoken media spokesman to the office of the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar Dingyadi, has resigned.
He had served for over three years as Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Media and Communications to the PDP National Chairman.
In a letter dated June 25, 2025, and addressed to the Acting National Chairman, Ambassador Iliya Damagum, Dingyadi expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the party.
He said: “While I appreciate the support and prayers of the PDP family during my stay in this office, I remain appreciative of all the contributions given to me to ensure the success of my assignment.”
However, he did not disclose the reason for his resignation.
The statement said: “Throughout his tenure, he was a prominent figure defending and clarifying issues related to the PDP’s internal crisis, as well as promoting unity and progress within the party.”
It noted that he was a “consistent and trusted source of clear, factual information about developments within the party for over three years.”
It added: “He frequently featured on radio, television, and in print media to speak on matters concerning the PDP’s policies, campaigns, and political engagements.”
Dingyadi played an active role in PDP campaigns during the Obasanjo/Atiku era and previously served under the late Minister of Communications, Arzika Tambuwal.
He was also part of the media teams for several major political movements, including the late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua’s group, the People’s Front (PF), the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the Democratic People’s Party (DPP) under Attahiru Bafarawa, and Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal’s administration.
He also contributed to the presidential campaigns of Obasanjo/Atiku (1999 and 2003), Goodluck Jonathan/Namadi Sambo (2011), and Atiku Abubakar/Ifeanyi Okowa (2023).
Dingyadi is a seasoned journalist who worked with outlets such as The Reporter/Nasiha newspapers, BBC Hausa, and other media organisations within and outside Nigeria for over two decades.
