Novels That Changed My Life

I know these men

I know them all

those mighty words you hear them repeat
are neither theirs nor something big

they sold their mouths to buy them cheap

I knew them then

I know them now

those flashy cars you see them drive
are not the cars you think they are

they sold their legs to acquire the beasts

I know not much

I know this one

those crowns you see are empty caps
a mere reflection of tortured minds

they’ve lost their heads to the game of chance

I know not much

I know this much

if they give their arms to get the land
they will give your soul to keep the game

do what you may, you can never escape!
