The Ports Authority Police, Western Command, has vowed to protect port facilities and ensure uninterrupted economic activities during the planned nationwide protest starting on Aug. 1.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Isaac Hundeyin, stated that the command had strategically deployed assets to secure Apapa Port, Tincan Island Port, Lekki Deep-Sea Port, and other facilities within its jurisdiction.
Commissioner of Police (CP) Olanrewaju Ishola cautioned that any attempts to disrupt port operations or incite violence would be firmly opposed.
Ishola stressed that the command would ensure unobstructed passage on all port access roads and warned troublemakers against exploiting the protest to create disorder.
He reassured stakeholders of the command’s dedication to collaborating with maritime unions and using intelligence to uphold law and order. (NAN)
