A group of youths, believed to be part of the ongoing protest, have set fire to the multi-million naira Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) office complex in Kano.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), a large number of these armed youths also blocked major roads in Kano city.
NAN reports that the newly built office was set to be inaugurated next week.
In the Hotoro area, all shops were shut down, and a filling station and a Rufaida shop were also burned.
Residents who spoke with NAN called on the authorities to take immediate measures to restore order and safeguard lives and property.
Alhaji Isa Musa, a resident of Charanchi in Gwale Local Government Area, described the situation as a threat to humanity.
Musa urged the police to send additional officers to the area immediately to address the worsening security situation and restore order.
“The situation requires prompt action to ensure the safety and security of residents, protect property, and maintain law and order in the metropolis,“ he said. (NAN)
