
A renowned Kano business man and politician, Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Zago, has died aged 74.
Until his death, he was the Managing Director of the Kano State Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB).
This was contained in a statement issued by the state governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, this morning.
The late Ɗanzago passed away in the early hours of Thursday at the age of 74 at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Kano, after a protracted illness.
He is survived by four wives, 37 children, and many grandchildren.
Family sources confirmed that his funeral prayer (Salatul Janaza) is scheduled to take place today by 1:00 PM at the Emir’s Palace in Kano, where his family members, government officials, friends, and associates are expected to gather to pay their final respects.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the deceased as “a dedicated public servant, a master political strategist, and a business mogul who played a key role in shaping the political landscape of Kano over the last 50 years.”
He further extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and the people of Kano, praying for Allah’s mercy upon his departed soul.
Alhaji Ahmadu Haruna Ɗanzago was a unique politician with massive grassroots support who served in various capacities, including state chairman of the defunct ANPP.
He was also a political adviser to a former Kano State governor, a special assistant to a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, and a board member of many private companies within and outside Kano State.
