The council, under the chairmanship of Engineer Bello A. Suleiman, approved the promotions during its special meeting held on Saturday, February 18, 2023.

Shehu said the staff promoted cut across different disciplines that included Chemistry, Hausa, Computer Science, Arabic, Biological Sciences, and Education.

Those promoted to professors are Dr. Muhammad Sirajo and Dr. Mansur Yahaya Ibrahim of the Department of Pure and Industrial Chemistry; Dr. Mansur Aliyu of the Department of Computer Science, Dr. Aliyah Adamu Ahmad of the Department of Nigerian Languages, and Dr. Sirajo Muhammad Sokoto of the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies.

Those promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturers are Dr. Adamu Abdullahi of the Department of Biological Sciences and Dr. Nasiru Abubakar Katami and Dr. Bashar Sa’adu Isa of the Department of Educational Foundation.

The public relations officer said the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Professor Bashir Garba, rejoiced with the promoted staff for attaining the milestone and said they were promoted following the council’s endorsement of their positive recommendations by their respective external assessors.

The vice-chancellor added that the university management, with the support of the Governing Council, would continue to motivate staff to be committed to duty.

However, he cautioned that it will not condone insubordination or indolence.

Garba further encouraged other staff to be more alive to their responsibilities because the university is determined to have thoroughly trained staff, who can advance teaching, research, and community service.
