President Bola Tinubu has praised Nigerian youths for their creative zeal and ability to drive digital innovation in Nigeria and beyond.
The International Youth Day is celebrated every August 12, and the 2024 theme is ‘From Clicks to Progress: Youth Digital Pathways for Sustainable Development.’
In a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu affirms that within the nation’s youths lies the excellent spirit and pearl of transformation to digitally innovate Nigeria to prosperity and global acclaim.
The President acknowledges the strides of the youth in diverse spheres, especially in developing billion dollar technologies and innovations to make the world a more prosperous and evolved place.
The President highlighted the success stories of Nigerian youth, such as those in Ebute Metta who create income with just a ring light and camera, a young entrepreneur in Aba making unique fashion pieces, and a young innovator in Kano developing sustainable agriculture through agro-technology.
To support and harness the creative talents of the youth, President Tinubu’s administration relaunched the Nigeria Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) under the Federal Ministry of Youth Development. The N110 billion fund is aimed at empowering youth in key sectors to drive sustainable economic growth.
Additionally, initiatives like the Digital and Creative Enterprises (IDiCE) program, the 3Million Technical Talents Scheme, the Skill-Up Artisans Programme (SUPA), and the National Youth Talent Export Programme (NATEP) are designed to empower young Nigerians and create millions of IT and technical jobs, enhancing their global competitiveness.
On this special occasion, President Tinubu reassured Nigerians that his administration is committed to making the dreams of young people a reality within a growing and inclusive economy.
