Capital City University, Kano (CCUK) has appointed the Emir of Kano, Dr. Muhammadu Sanusi II, as the Visitor to the institution, a move the university says will strengthen its pursuit of academic excellence, innovation and community engagement.

The delegation, which included the institution’s Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BoT), the Vice-Chancellor and the Registrar, presented the official letter of appointment to the monarch.

According to the university, the appointment marks a significant milestone in its history and reflects its admiration for the Emir’s longstanding contributions to education, public service, intellectual development and national leadership.

CCUK described Emir Sanusi II as a renowned advocate of knowledge, social progress and educational advancement, noting that his leadership and experience would provide valuable guidance to the institution as it seeks to consolidate its position as a centre of academic excellence.

Speaking during the presentation, members of the university delegation expressed confidence that the appointment of the Emir as Visitor would further advance the institution’s vision of promoting innovation, character development and quality education.

They added that the association with the traditional ruler would also help deepen collaboration between academia, traditional institutions and the wider society.

“The appointment is both an honour and a strategic step towards fostering stronger partnerships between the university, traditional institutions and society at large,” the delegation stated.

The university reiterated its commitment to nurturing future leaders through quality teaching, research and community service, while drawing on the wisdom and experience of eminent personalities whose values align with its mission.

The Information and Public Affairs Unit of Capital City University said the institution remains focused on building a culture of excellence and leveraging strategic partnerships to achieve its long-term aspirations.
