Katsina State Governor, Malam Dikko Umaru Radda, has expressed deep sadness over the death of renowned Katsina-born singer, Muhammadu Buhari, popularly known as Kosan Waka, describing him as a voice of peace whose music promoted unity, culture and public enlightenment.

Kosan Waka, a native of Batagarawa Local Government Area of Katsina State, died on Sunday at the age of 47.

In a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, Governor Radda said the late musician used his talent to promote peace and educate the public on governance and political issues.

“Kosan Waka used his music to preach peace, to promote our culture and to educate the people on politics and governance. He was one of my favourite singers since my days as Director General of SMEDAN,” the governor said.

Radda noted that the late singer participated in several programmes and events organised by the Katsina State Government and consistently supported causes that fostered unity among the people.

“His death is a big loss to Katsina State, to the music industry and to all of us who grew up listening to his songs. We will miss his energy and his message,” he added.

The governor prayed to Allah to forgive the late singer’s shortcomings and grant him Aljannah Firdaus.

He also extended his condolences to Kosan Waka’s immediate family, the people of Batagarawa Local Government Area and his fans across Katsina State.
