The Profile Polo Team have emerged winners of the prestigious IBB Cup at the 2026 Minna National Polo Tournament at the grand finale of the Minna Polo Ground, Niger State, this Sunday.
Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, who watched the final match, applauded the high level of competition as Profile Polo Team defeated Malcomines Polo Team to claim the coveted trophy.
Bago Farms Polo Team, captained by the governor’s son, Marwan Mohammed Bago, won both the Emir’s Cup and the Governor’s Cup, while Profile Polo Club also clinched the General Hassan Cup.
Speaking after the tournament, Governor Bago congratulated all participating teams for their sportsmanship and outstanding performances throughout the competition.
The governor, who also serves as President of the Minna Polo Club, commended the club’s First Vice President, Mohammed Babangida, for his leadership and commitment to sustaining the game of polo in Niger State.
He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the development of polo, assuring stakeholders of continued support to promote the sport in the state.
The event featured the presentation of trophies and plaques to winning teams, as well as awards to outstanding players who distinguished themselves during the tournament.
Among dignitaries at the event were the Emir of Minna, Alhaji Umar Faruk Bahago, and the Wakilin Birnin Adamawa, Dr. Umar Usman Bazza, alongside other guests and polo enthusiasts.
